BOLTON FOR GROUPS IN 2010
22 March 2010
Do something different with your group this year and enjoy a surprisingly different short break in Bolton.
You could take your group to the home of Fred Dibnah, Bolton’s very own world famous steeplejack, which has recently been purchased and is being lovingly restored into a heritage centre, due to open in 2010.
For a great day out for groups that love to shop, our latest itinerary, ‘Shopping and Foodie Heaven in Bolton’ combines a trip to the Market Place Shopping Centre with its wide range of over 50 high street stores and Bolton Market, famous for its fresh fish and food stalls and recently voted Best Indoor Market in the 2010 National Market of the Year Awards. Pre-booked parties can watch professional chefs prepare dishes at the newly-installed kitchen demonstration area at Bolton Market. Places must be booked in advance so to guarantee that a chef will be performing in the kitchen demonstration area, please call 01204 334271.
Alternatively, our ‘Taste of Asia’ itinerary offers a chance to experience a trip that’s a little bit different. Visit the Shree Swaminarayan Sidhant Sajivan Mandal arts and cultural centre with its superb decorative ceiling and shrine interpreting the Hindu faith. Next stop is the House of Raja’s, an authentic Indian department store where you can do a spot of shopping for food, clothing and household items. Saree wearing demonstrations and Asian food tasting can also be arranged for your group.
Later in the year Bolton’s Food and Drink Festival takes place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend (Friday 27 to Monday 30 August 2010). Come and sample fresh produce from our wonderful food market, watch cookery demonstrations by celebrity TV chefs and tuck into offers at local bars and restaurants. Many events are free of charge and tickets for live cookery demonstrations are available.
Bolton has lots to offer groups who like to explore history, with some wonderful attractions including Smithills Hall, one of the oldest and best preserved manor houses in the North West and Hall i’ th’ Wood Museum, a Tudor 16th century wooden framed house.
