QA ratings explained
Quality assurance ratings are a measure of standards of accommodation and provide an independent assessment of what guests can expect to find.
Quality in Tourism assurance ratings are available for guest accommodation (B&Bs and guest houses)‚ self catering‚ hotels‚ holiday parks (camping‚ caravanning etc.)‚ holiday villages‚ hostels‚ campus accommodation and boats.
Using a simple one to five star rating, it puts great emphasis on quality and is based on research, which showed exactly what consumers are looking for when choosing accommodation. The higher the number of stars awarded, the greater the overall quality of the experience.
Budget hotels, ideal for making an overnight stop along your route, are also inspected but rated differently. These are often situated close to main roads and motorways and offer value for money rooms – they must meet set criteria but are not given any star rating.
